What’s Cailyn’s Deal?

Hi, I’m Cailyn! I’m a performer and TTRPG professional based out of Chicago, Illinois.

Born and raised in Washington, DC, I have a lifelong passion for acting, storytelling, and generally being the center of attention. I grew up as a dancer; from there I made my way into the world of theatre and established myself as an actor for theatre and film and professional DM for Dungeons & Dragons events. I have my BA in theatre from Muhlenberg College, where I graduated summa cum laude in December 2022.

In the TTRPG space, I have run Dungeons & Dragons games professionally for both Labyrinth Games and Puzzles in Washington, DC, and Otherworld Theatre in Chicago. I specialize in a silly, Monty Python-esque play style, and infuse the stories I tell with character and heart. When not acting or running games professionally, I’m usually engaging in similarly nerdy activities such as reading fantasy novels or playing video games.

I’m also a SAFD certified actor combatant, in training to hopefully one day be a fight director and choreographer for the stage. At the moment I’m taking a “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” approach to certifying in the eight weapon principles, and am training my fifth skill, rapier and dagger, at the Actor’s Gymnasium in Evanston, Illinois.

As a Middle Eastern American and a queer person, I have a particular passion and interest in bringing underrepresented identities to the stage and screen. I’m a firm believer in the power of being seen in the media you consume, and that we folks who don’t always get the limelight in the mainstream have far more to offer the world than trite stereotypes and cheap shots at our expense. After all, the world is a more interesting place when we listen to the stories people different from us have to tell, isn’t it?
